You can apply for a loan to pay the deposit (residents deposit) if you move into public housing.
If the housing is located in a municipality other than the municipality you live in, you should apply for a loans for the resident's deposit in the municipality you are moving to.

As a rule, the municipality has an obligation to grant the loan:
  • If you move into an apartment and your household's total income when you move in does not exceed DKK 227.808 (2015) per year. If there are children in your household, this amount is increased by DKK 39.900 (2015) for each child up to and including four children.
  • If you move into a single room and your households total income when you move in does not exceed DKK 154.451 (2015) per year. If there are children in your household, this amount is increased by DKK 39.900 (2015) for each child up to and including four children.

If you do not meet the conditions on income, the municipality may nevertheless in certain cases provide a deposit loan or a guarantee for a loan after individual assessment and the given special rules.

You cannot apply for a loan
  • if you move into ordinary youth accommodation without an independent kitchen
  • with private rental
  • with a loan for a deposit (prepaid rent)

A loan or loan guarantees for resident's deposit is granted under the Act on Housing Subsidies.

  • Documentation of housing information - one of these documents:
    • Certification from housing association
    • A copy of the lease
    • A copy of the housing offer
